Over the last several months, we’ve explored three different themes: Know Yourself, Know Your Options, and Brand Yourself. When discussing these themes, we’ve made sure to include resources geared toward each topic to help you in your career development. Some of these resources included different reflection worksheets, career tools like major exploration, and videos highlighting different ways you can brand yourself.
Now that we’re in the last month of the 2017-18 academic year, we want to make sure you continue to use our career and leadership resources to your advantage before you leave for the summer. Check out these five resources in the next few weeks:
Attend a certificate workshop
If you still haven’t obtained your 21st Century or Professional Leadership Certificates, consider attending some of the remaining workshops. You can attend the individual evening sessions or come to our Last Chance Saturday Series on April 28. Take a look at the requirements for both certificates and you might be able to earn both before the year is out! These certificates are a great resume booster and learning experience for all students.
Sign up for Handshake!
If you’ve been paying attention to your email or follow us on social media, you’ll know that we’re switching from Bobcat CareerLink to Handshake. Handshake is a new career services platform that has similar functions to Bobcat CareerLink, but offers a more updated, streamlined program for students. Students will gain full access to Handshake on April 16, but while you wait, make sure that you’ve saved all of your important documents from your Bobcat CareerLink account before it closes on June 30.
Come in for a Mock Interview
The last month of the semester can be filled with interviews for jobs and internships, especially for students who are graduating in the spring. Sharpen your interviewing skills by signing up for a mock interview with staff at the CLDC. Your future employed self will thank you.
Stop by the Career Closet
If you’re in need of some professional clothes for an upcoming interview, but you’re in a pinch with time or money, our Career Closet is a great resource. Students can borrow any item of clothing they need and are not required to return anything. We encourage students to keep the clothes they find.
Follow Us on Social Media
If you’re not already following us on social media, you’re missing out. We use our Twitter and Facebook to post about upcoming events, career resources, and many other opportunities. You can also follow us on Instagram for some sarcastic professional and career advice to spice up your day.
