A concept that has come up lately, both for me personally and in my role as a career coach and leadership coach, is the power of our environment on our behaviors, and the balance between adapting to surrounding pressures while ensuring we are staying true to ourselves. Two Invisibilia podcasts I listened to recently are relevant to the ways we can be heavily impacted by our environment. The first, Outside In, describes a few powerful real-life examples of how surface changes (e.g. cultural shifts) can ultimately cause inner change. Similarly, The New Norm details a few extreme cultural examples of how social norms can greatly impact your day-to-day behaviors, including what you allow yourself to feel.
